Understanding Trip Modification:

Trip modification and extension allow you to make changes to your trip on our platform. Whether you need to adjust your plans or extend your trip duration, we've got you covered.

Trip Modification: This is when you make changes to your trip before picking up the car. You can edit both the pickup and drop-off date/time.

Trip Extension: If you need to modify your trip after you've already picked up the car and it's currently ongoing, it's called a trip extension. In this case, you can only edit the drop-off date/time because the pickup has already happened.

 ✔ Important: All trip modification and extension requests require approval from the host. They are not automatically accepted, whether the cars are Instant or Non-Instant.

Guidelines for Trip Modification:

Trip duration: You can request a trip modification only if the modified duration is greater than or equal to the original trip duration. You cannot reduce the trip duration.

Pickup window: For trip modifications, you can submit requests up to 5 minutes before the scheduled pickup time.

Drop-off window: If you need to extend your trip while it is Ongoing, you can submit requests up to 6 hours after the scheduled drop-off time.

Car availability: If the host's calendar is already booked or has other reservations during the proposed modified duration, you won't be able to submit a trip modification request for those dates and times.

How to Modify/Extend your Trip

■ Select the Trip: Open the trip that you want to modify. Please note that the booking must be confirmed for you to make changes.


■ Find the "Modify/Edit" Button: On the trip details page, you'll see a "Modify/Edit" Trip button. Click on it.


■ Adjust Dates and Times: Enter the new dates and times that suit your modified plans.


■ Review Pricing: Take a look at the price breakdown and the additional amount payable for the extended duration.

■ Submit Your Request: Once you've made your changes and are satisfied with the details, send the modification request. Now, you'll need to wait for the host to approve your request.

Why am I still being charged the same amount when my modified and original trip duration is the same?

It's important to understand that our platform distinguishes between peak and regular days. If your original trip falls on regular days and your modified trip falls on peak days, even if the duration remains the same, you may be charged for the price difference between peak and regular days. This ensures fairness and aligns with our pricing structure.

 

What should I do if the host does not accept my trip modification request?

In the rare event that the host is unable to review and approve your trip modification request, here's what you can do:

1 - Contact the Host: Reach out to the host via call or message through our platform to inform them that you have submitted a trip modification request. They might not be aware of it, and your communication can help expedite the process.

2- Drive Mate Support: If you're unable to get in touch with the host or if they are unresponsive, don't worry. Our Drive Mate support team is here to assist you. They have the capability to accept trip modification and extension requests on behalf of the hosts, ensuring your request doesn't go unanswered.
